The Moss is Unreal Here!

Is this really an article about moss?

Okay, I'm not going to spend a whole article talking about moss, but I did want to quickly remark on how incredible moss looks in combination with the wet weather in Nova Scotia. Of course, if you are anywhere else in Canada, you are bound to find some type of moss lying around on a log or rock. It's not a unique phenomenon to Nova Scotia. However, being on the Eastern coast of Canada, the proximity to salt rich water creates a unique biodiversity allowing special types of moss to form.

Christmas "Moss"

Okay, a note about Christmas in Halifax. You're probably not going to find anything as unique as a Capital city's traditions during Christmas time. There are a number of Christmas markets open this time of year selling all sorts of Christmas goodies. The malls as suspected are packed with people trying to find some deals for the holidays. But amongst it all, you can find glimpses of this special season in the decorations in central locations of the city.

Christmas Tree in Halifax Shopping Centre

A giant Christmas tree finds itself in one of the
quieter sections of the mall making a beautiful
                                              background for family photos.

A Glittering Reminder

I was reminded this week that getting outside in nature is one of the best things for one's mental health. There is no better place, in my opinion, then to be within walking distance of the ocean. The ocean creates the concept of a coastline and really helps to appreciate the landscape all the more. I feel much more motivated to get outside here in Halifax because there is so much nature to love and so many sites to see. The geological and ecological diversity here is vast.

The wonder of Nature

There is certainly many places on earth that are as much, if not more, breathtaking than Nova Scotia. The thing they share however is the beauty that exists despite anything we as humans can do. If anything, humans have destroyed some of the earth's beauty, but in Nova Scotia, I feel a little bit closer to that original earth that God created and it's an amazing feeling.
